Judgement
I WILL SURVIVE - The well-oiled, demon-fighting machine of Angel (David Boreanaz), Cordelia (Charisma Carpenter) and Wesley (Alexis Denisof) is back in full force and joined by the streetwise vampire hunter Charles Gunn (new series regular J. August Richards). After a case of mistaken identity leads Angel to slay a demon protecting an innocent girl, karaoke is the only way to make things right. Meanwhile, Angel struggles with the discovery that he may not always be eternal and Darla (guest star Julie Benz) recovers from her resurrection from Hell. Michael Lange directed the episode, with story by Joss Whedon & David Greenwalt and teleplay by David Greenwalt.

Are you now or have you ever been
TAKE ME BACK - Angel (David Boreanaz) directs Cordelia (Charisma Carpenter) and Wesley (Alexis Denisof) to investigate a mysteriously abandoned hotel in Hollywood and as they piece together the building's dark history, they discover that his interest is that of a personal nature. In a flashback to 1952, Angel is not the atoning vampire of present day, but a recluse who is detached from the tortured humans around him, until one fateful day. J. Episode 3:

First Impressions
VISION GIRL - When Cordelia (Charisma Carpenter) has a particularly disturbing vision of Gunn (J. August Richards) is in grave danger, she elects herself as his new protector. When she discovers that he may be his own worst enemy, she has to face the fact that she can't save him without the help of Angel (David Boreanaz) and Wesley (Alexis Denisof).  Shawn Ryan wrote the episode directed by James A. Episode 4:

Untoutched
SLEEP TIGHT - Angel (David Boreanaz) unknowingly crosses paths with Wolfram and Hart when he comes to the aid of a young woman, Bethany (guest star Daisy McCrackin), who possesses telekinetic powers far beyond her control, a situation Angel has had to contend with in his own life. Meanwhile, Angel is somewhat off his game due to the fact that he has been sleeping weird, but has no idea his fitful nights are the result of nocturnal visits by Darla (guest star Julie Benz). Charisma Carpenter, Alexis Denisof and J. August Richards also star.  Meredyth Smith wrote the episode directed by Joss Whedon.
 

 
Episode 5:

Dear Boy
WHEN GOOD VAMPIRES GO BAD - Angel's (David Boreanaz) continued restless nights takes him all the way back to 1860 London and his first encounter with Drusilla (guest star Juliet Landau), but when he sees Darla (guest star Julie Benz) in his waking life, Cordelia (Charisma Carpenter), Wesley (Alexis Denisof) and Gunn (J. August Richards) fear he has gone off the deep end and may revert to his evil ways. Written and directed by David Greenwalt.
 

 
Episode 6:

Guise will be Guise
WILL THE REAL ANGEL PLEASE STAND UP - Angel (David Boreanaz) travels to a mystical swami to help him understand his haunting dreams and get in touch with his inner demon, but while he is away Wesley (Alexis Denisof) assumes Angel's identity to try to save a young girl and sort of enjoys playing the role of a vampire with a soul. Charisma Carpenter and J. August Richards also star. Jane Espenson wrote the episode directed by Krishna Rao.
 

 
Episode 7:

Darla
THE FLASHBACKS CONTINUE IN "ANGEL" - Angel (David Boreanaz) is desperate to rescue Darla (guest star Julie Benz) from the clutches of Wolfram & Hart and flashbacks reveal what a dangerous and powerful relationship they shared as history weirdly seems to be repeating itself. The trip down memory lane begins with Darla's sire by the Master (guest star Mark Metcalf) and ends with the gang of Spike (guest star James Marsters), Drusilla (guest star Juliet Landau), Darla and Angel being torn apart when he gets a soul. Charisma Carpenter, Alexis Denisof and J. August Richards also star. Tim Minear wrote and directed the episode.
 

 
Episode 8:

The Shroud of Rahmon
WEAK IN THE KNEES - Angel (David Boreanaz) poses as a flashy vampire hoodlum, and with the help of Gunn (J. August Richards) prevents a mind-altering shroud from falling into the wrong hands. Charisma Carpenter and Alexis Denisof also star. Jim Kouf wrote the episode directed by David Grossman.
 

 
Episode 9:

The trial
IN THE NAME OF LOVE - Angel (David Boreanaz) is still haunted by flashbacks of his 150-year love affair with Darla (guest star Julie Benz) and has Gunn (J. August Richards) help track her down, but he soon discovers that he is faced with an impossible choice: watch her die from a terminal illness or use his dark powers to turn her back into a vampire and give her eternal life. Charisma Carpenter and Alexis Denisof also star. Bruce Seth Green directed the episode with teleplay by Tim Minear and Doug Petrie, and story by David Greenwalt.
 

 
Episode 10:

Reunion
REBORN - Angel (David Boreanaz) goes on a frantic search after Drusilla (guest star Juliet Landau) turns Darla (guest star Julie Benz) back into a vampire, and he must catch them before she rises again and the two go back to their old ways and paint the town red. Meanwhile, as Angel goes off the deep end, his staff worries they are the only ones standing between Angel and real darkness. Charisma Carpenter, Alexis Denisof and J. August Richards also star. Episode 11:

Redefinition
ON THE WARPATH - After firing his staff and cutting himself off from all help, Angel (David Boreanaz) begins intense physical and mental training to become strong enough to stop Darla (guest star Julie Benz) and Drusilla (guest star Juliet Landau) before they destroy the City of Angels. Meanwhile, Cordelia (Charisma Carpenter), Wesley (Alexis Denisof) and Gunn (J. August Richards) try to continue the fight for the innocent on their own now that Angel's gone commando. Michael Grossman directed the episode written by Mere Smith.

Blood Money
CALLING YOUR BLUFF - Angel (David Boreanaz) threatens to expose Wolfram & Hart's criminal activities when he discovers that they are stealing large contributions that were made to a teen shelter but an old adversary has other plans for Angel. Happy Aniversary
CAN'T STOP THE WORLD - Angel (David Boreanaz) and The Host (guest star Andy Hallett) must join forces to stop a brilliant, yet twisted physicist who is determined to stop time in order to keep his girlfriend from breaking up with him. Episode 14:

Thin dead line
WHEN DEAD COPS ATTACK - Angel (David Boreanaz) investigates rumors of renegade cops out for blood, while Cordelia (Charisma Carpenter), Wesley (Alexis Denisof) and Gunn (J. August Richards) carry out their own fact-finding mission that results Wesley being seriously wounded by a police gunshot. Scott McGinnis directed the episode written by Jim Kouf & Shawn Ryan.

ANGEL GOES ON A SUICIDE MISSION - Angel (David Boreanaz) learns of the impending visit of Wolfram & Hart's "senior partner," an evil and merciless demon from hell, and he plans a kamikaze mission to destroy the powerful beast that will sacrifice his own life in the process. Episode 16:

Epiphany
ANGEL IS BACK...BUT WHO WANTS HIM? - After an empty night of passion with Darla (Julie Benz), Angel (David Boreanaz) surprisingly wakes up with his soul still intact and has an epiphany. His moment of clarity brings him back to the land of the living and while he tries to reunite with his crew, Cordelia (Charisma Carpenter), Wesley (Alexis Denisof) and Gunn (J. August Richards) aren't ready to forgive him, even when their very lives are at stake. Tim Minear wrote the episode directed by Thomas J. Wright.
 

 
Episode 17:

Disharmony
PEACE & HARMONY - Angel (David Boreanaz) and his reunited crew try to foil the plans of a vampire cult leader, but Cordelia (Charisma Carpenter) becomes distracted when her old high school friend-turned-vampire Harmony (guest star Mercedes McNab) comes to town after her break-up with Spike and wants to help in the fight. Fred Keller directed the episode written by David Fury.

Dead end
BODY SNATCHERS - Angel and Lindsey (guest star Christian Kane) must grudgingly work together when Cordelia's disturbing vision leads the gang to a grotesque Wolfram & Hart body shop where parts are harvested from live humans. Episode 19:

Belonging
A WHOLE NEW WORLD - Angel and his crew must find a way to kill a bloodthirsty demon who has arrived in town from another dimension through a mysterious, magical portal in the karaoke bar. With the help of Cordelia's (Charisma Carpenter) visions, they are able to locate someone who can help destroy the snarly beast; however, when it's time to return their source to his home dimension, Cordelia discovers a whole new world. Alexis Denisof and J. August Richards also star. Turi Meyer directed the episode written by Shawn Ryan.
 

 
Episode 20:

Over the rainbow
Cordelia (Charisma Carpenter) is accidentally sucked through a magical portal and transported to a demon dimension, finding herself all alone in a strange new land where humans are considered inferior and sold into slavery. Angel (David Boreanaz), Gunn (J. August Richards), Wesley (Alexis Denisof) and the Host (guest star Andy Hallett) jump through the portal in search of her and end up shackled by an angry mob of villagers and sentenced to death. Mere Smith wrote the episode directed by Fred Keller.
 

 
Episode 21:

Through the looking glass
Angel (David Boreanaz), Gunn (J. August Richards), Wesley (Alexis Denisof) and the Host (guest star Andy Hallett) are sentenced to death in a demon dimension after trying to rescue a lost Cordelia (Charisma Carpenter), but are even more shocked to find themselves brought before Her Royal Highness, Cordelia. Unfortunately, unbeknownst to Her Majesty, Cordy’s reign will be a short one. Tim Minear wrote and directed the episode.
 

 
Episode 22:

There's No Place Like Plrtz Glrb
FIGHT THE POWER - Angel (David Boreanaz) struggles with the inner beast that the demon dimension brings out in him, while Cordelia learns that her role as princess involves mating with a demon, and Wesley and Gunn band with rebel forces to overthrow the government and Her Majesty. David Greenwalt wrote and directed the episode.
